It's been too long!!!

I have been WAY too busy! I can't believe I put off posting for so long!! I will be posting again next week with lots of pictures! But for now I'm just going to update everyone on what has been going on here. I have finished sewing all of my newborn diapers, 3 Small snail shell diapers, and 1 small fitted. Yesterday I battled with my dad's computer for 3 HOURS to get the cloth revolution diaper pattern to print out(he has a Mac and it was just NOT cooperating with me!). I am planning on making 3 more small snail shells(cut out and ready to sew) and then will be making small/medium fitteds out of scrap fabric using the cloth revolution pattern. I am excited to be finished with the diaper sewing!! I have made a bunch of fleece covers. Some are sitting in a bag next to me waiting to be snapped(that is my job today).
I have the giraffe print wall ALMOST finished. I am working on the second coat of paint and am about half done with that, then DH will be painting the light green on the rest of the walls!! I am so excited for the painting to be finished! We have decided not to paint the giraffes on the wall. I really wanted too, but with some of the crazy things that have come up for us to get done before January I just can't see having enough time to finish it. But really I think the giraffe print is enough. I mean we got a TON of giraffe stuff from DH's mom, and my dad gave us the idea to print out the giraffe pictures he took in California at the Living Desert to hang on the wall.
I so wish that all I had to work on and stress about right now was just finishing sewing up our little boys stuff and then painting and setting up the nursery, but it is not the case. We own a duplex, and rent out one side. Our renters decided to move out the beginning of November and they had previously payed their last months rent so we had to pay full mortgage for the duplex last month and this month. We also have to replace all the flooring and repaint, as well as install a new kitchen sink, fix the microwave, find a new garage door opener that is compatible with the model we have. And of course I still have ALL of our holiday shopping today. Oh and not to mention we have 5 birthdays in our family this month. lol. Luckily this will all be over when we hit January. We will be able to get a new renter in and be set just in time to introduce our little boy to the world!!
I've also been having severe issues with hip pain. I went to the chiropractor, which normally helps a lot, but it has not helped this time, and I am thinking my only option will be physical therapy. But that has definitely bogged me down a bit this month. Despite all that I am remaining positive, and telling myself not to panic even though that's exactly what my pregnancy hormones want me to do!!! lol.

On Wednesday my friend Meggan did a maternity shoot with me. It was a last second one because someone canceled on her for a shoot that day. We have my real shoot scheduled for next Thursday and hopefully we will have the nursery done enough to get some pictures in there! But for now, a teaser!! And an announcement of our little boys official name! :)

Always Been A Fan Of Fleece

I made fleece quilts for everyone in my family a couple years ago for Christmas. I have had all these fleece scrap squares sitting around for forever with absolutely nothing to do with them! Well this week I will be working on my scrap diapers(for the meconium poos) and will finally get to use some of my fleece scraps! They will most likely be ugly, lol, but really doesn't matter right?

Anyways, I had a better reason for posting today. Yesterday morning Seth(my wonderfull husband!) brought me to Joanns to get a few much needed supplies! Bought some thread and a couple zippers, plus ended up finding a few nice remnants of black and lime green fleece. Score!
So since I FINALLY had thread I got straight to work sewing up a couple things that have been waiting for some time to be sewn!

First of all I finally got to sew up my first wet bag!! Mossy Oak camo for DH of course ;)

Tutorial I used to make: http://alemonsqueezyhome.blogspot.com/2010/05/wetbag-tutorial.html

And I managed to get a Snail Shell Diaper done! (from what I have heard these are supposed to be great for newborns who are breast fed)

 Pattern and small tutorial: http://diaperdivas.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=sticky&action=display&thread=129014

You need to get a username and password to see this but so worth it! Lots of useful information on this board!

I made these fleece longies a couple weeks ago, but thought I'd show them off since I am showing off the cowboys diaper that matches :) I made them for our little boy to wear to his grandma and grandpas house. They are big cowboys fans and the fleece I used was actually leftover fleece from making DH's dad a cowboys quilt 2 Christmas' ago.

This was my first try at making longies, and I'm really happy with how they turned out! The cuff on the right leg is a little smaller than the cuff on the left but I don't think it will be noticable once they are on him. I made the legs a little longer than average, because I just have a feeling he is going to be a tall little boy. Seth was very long when he was born and my family is also prone to tall skinny boys!

Here's the pattern for the longies, don't have a tutorial but it's pretty simple to figure out yourself:

My Crazy To Do List!!

I thought it would be fun to share my coming projects! I was feeling extremely overwhelmed the other day but have since found a website called teuxdeux.com. I swear if you need to make to do lists for the days you want to do them, this is SO perfect. My brother referred me to this website, and I swear it was like the stress just rolled right off my shoulders. I feel better that I can plan things out a bit according to when I have the money to go and buy supplies for the projects as well as having all of my different to do lists in one place!

My project I am working on at the moment is painting giraffe print on the wall in the baby room. It will only be on the wall behind the crib. I will also be painting giraffes(momma and baby) on the opposite wall of the room. The giraffes sadly have to wait until next week when we have some extra money to spend on the paint. I am also waiting for this weekend to go on at thread shopping spree, because I just ran out!

So far here is my to-do list, for the must have projects!

Finish Painting Giraffe Print
Paint Giraffes
6 Newborn Snail Shell Diapers
6 Small Snail Shell Diapers
6-12 scrap fabric newborn diapers(for the meconium poos!) :p
12 Darling Diapers Newborn: 6 with fleece outer(for airing out the bum!) and 6 with PUL outer for outings
6 Chloe Toes Small Diapers
6 Chloe Toes Medium Diapers
Crib Dust Ruffle
Recover Bumper Set
2 Diaper Pail Liners
2 Changing Table Covers
2 Crib sheets to match room(if I can't find the right color in the store)
2 Wetbags(all cut out and ready to sew just need to get the zippers!)

So far that is my for sures. I have a long list of other projects I am waiting to add.

Okay, yes I know 48 diapers is a TON of diapers. But I'd rather have too many than to few! Plus 12 of them will be made with scrap fabric anyways :)

I bought snap pliers from kamsnaps.com and I LOVE THEM! I also ordered 13 yards of PUL fabric from Hancock Fabrics when they had it on sale for $5 a yd a few weeks back. This is extremely exciting because it means I will have plenty for making my Diapers pail liners as was as a couple changing pad covers, and whatever else I can come up with!

I will update this tomorrow to add another list of all the baby projects I am hoping to get to! I'm not putting them on my must haves because I don't want to stress over trying to get them done in time.

Oh and before I forget!! A couple of weeks ago we had out gender ultrasound and it is....

A BEAUTIFUL BABY BOY!

Mei Tai Carrier

This week I made a swaddling blanket and this mei tai that has interchangable panels and I have been extremely excited to show it off. Since I don't have the baby to try it out with yet, I did the best with what I had! (BTW that baby in my belly is being extremely active today! Only 21 weeks to go!)
Anyways, I am in love with these interchangable panels. I cannot wait to make more! For now I just made the one pretty butterfly one(out of fabric from the remnants section at Joann's), then I made a Mossy Oak Camo panel so that DH can use it too!!

Some pics:

First off the swaddling blanket...it didn't seem so functional on my neice Vera(she's quite the kicker though)...so for now I don't think I will be making more. However, I have considered adding hook and loop in some spots to hopefully make the unfunctional functional again! Hoping that it wasn't a complete waste of time:

Now here is my favorite creation so far. The Mei Tai!! DH was impressed with my handy work. I have to admit I was impressed with myself too. haha. I've never done any sewing jobs that take so much work!! I usually stick with the simple things. Now I feel like I could make anything!!

And yes I know the velcro is a little bit wonky. I had a hard time meauring out the panels because I only have one simple metal ruler and no quilting rulers or anything. So with less supplies you get less quality. Either way, you can't tell once the panel is put into the Mei Tai, so really doesn't matter right? :)

Soaker Fabric for Cloth Diapers

I found this really interesting. And I've found it at the perfect time since I will be starting to work on my diapers in a month when we find out the gender of the baby. I'm thinking I will probably start with using Zorb for soakers, and inserts for pocket diapers. I may start making the inserts ahead of time since there is no need for those to be colored gender specific, not like making the cute diapers! I was also thinking, after seeing this, I may order some zorb to make bibs and burp cloths!! I bet it would make some awesome burp cloths. I will definately have to try it out...soon!! I would have done the Organic Bamboo Fleece, but I am trying to save us money so that will have to be for a future project..

The Beginning of a Lifetime Journey

I am 14 weeks and 4 days pregnant today and all I can think about is what seems like a million different projects I have set out for myself! This blog has been created to share these projects and any other things I come across and find interesting.
To introduce myself: My name is Katina, I turned 23 on Tuesday and I am expecting my first. So yes, the blog title doesn't fit my lifestyle perfectly quite yet, but it will! :) I am planning on making all my own cloth diapers, and cloth wipes. I will also be making some baby carriers like wraps, slings, and mei tais. I love all of the amazing projects that have been presented to me with this upcoming baby. It has also created even more impatience to meet this baby! I hope that someone out there finds this blog helpful in some way or another! Please have fun here!
